Ferrari 412 GT

The most underestimated Ferrari in the history of the mythical manufacturer from Maranello? It could be this beautiful 1986 412 GT! And not just because we happen to have one for sale. We’ve met its predecessors, the 365 GT4 2+2, 400 GT and 400i, in an earlier stage too. In many ways, these models are comparable to this splendid, excellent (dealer) maintained Ferrari 412 GT - including an official Ferrari Classiche (!) Report. The 412, however, is the most modern interpretation of the 365/400 model series. And with that the best developed one.

The Ferrari 412 GT was introduced in June 1985 as the 4th and last generation of the “Ferrari 4”. It’s the first Italian car with ABS as a standard. Also notable: a manual transmission was, in contrast to its predecessors, optional. An automatic gearbox was “the new standard” instead.
The magnificent gran tourer on your screen was delivered new by Sa.Mo.Car in Rome, exactly 1 year after the official model introduction. In 2009, the 412 left its home country for the Netherlands. 7 years later, the stylish GT was sold by official Ferrari dealer Munsterhuis Sportscars to the 2nd and last Dutch owner. Up to now…

Interior & exterior

On the outside, the differences with predecessor 400i are subtle but refined enough to impress. The 412 has front light indicators hidden behind white glass. From now on the bumpers had the same color as the bodywork. The fog lamps in the rear bumper were moved downwards, to a new place between the 2 double end pipes. The stretched coachwork of the thoroughbred 2+2 GT is immersed in elegant Nero Carbonio Metallizzato.
On the inside, the differences with the 400i are even smaller. More important is the upholstery: this super chic version has Pella Crema leather, a gorgeous combination and striking contrast with the black dashboard, steering wheel and tunnel console. The light leather upholstery has also reached the upper inner body. We don’t mind. At all. The excellent condition makes the Ferrari cockpit even a greater pleasure to watch and sit in. Just wow.

Back to the most recent change of owners in 2016: also the year in which the 12-cylinder was thoroughly taken care of by Munsterhuis. Thanks to major maintenance and various restoration work, the - so far - final delivery moment became another historical one.
After all these years the 4.9-liter Ferrari-V12 still feels, sounds and accelerates like it’s forever young. Why not? With a maximum power of 340 hp sent to the rear wheels (30 more than its predecessor) and a 0-100 km/h sprint in less than 7 seconds, the 412 GT is faster than most of the modern GT’s out there. The question is: can you handle this kind of powerful splendor?
