The Ferrari 512 TR was introduced in 1991 as successor of the beautiful Testarossa – maybe the most famous Ferrari of all time. Its name is inspired by the displacement of nearly 5 liters (4943 cc) and 12 cylinders. The abbreviation TR is a direct reference to his famous predecessor, and means ‘Redhead’. A signification which needs no more explanation after opening the hood. There lies a longitudinally mounted 12 cylinder, including a red colored valve cover.
Just as the model itself, the power source of the 512 is an evolution of the original. The flat lying (180°) V12 mid-engine delivers 428 HP in this version; that’s 38 horses more than the Testrossa. Therefore, its acceleration from 0-100 km/h only takes 4.8 seconds. But perhaps more important is the 512’s potential to break the magical limit of 300 km/h. Indeed, its top speed is a staggering 314 km/h!
Also impressive are the unique design features that the 512 TR took directly from the Testarossa. The typical 80’s style headlights, beautifully shaped air intakes at the sides, extending into the doors, the extreme broad ‘shoulders’ and of course the famous tail light shades, are all characterizing the Testarossa - and also the 512. Only the slightly modified light clusters at the front and the rear, newly designed rims and custom hood, front bumper and -spoiler distinguishes this Ferrari from his predecessor.
Inside the differences are even smaller. In this TR you’ll find beautiful Nero leather on the seats and dashboard. The interior ambiance is simple and tasteful at the same time. The traditional gear shift stands stately above the wide center tunnel, and longs for a firm hand. Are you gonna give it to him? If so, we'll probably see you soon at our showroom!
