Driving in this extremely fine 1991 Porsche 964, is like being thrown back in time. Every little detail about the Carrera Coupe has great character: the drivers position, the dashboard, the used materials and of course the sound. Listening to the power of the air-cooled 911 is the same as listening to your favorite track: you just want to hear it over and over again. For that and many other reasons, this Porsche is one of the finest time machines we’ve ever seen.
History & Design
The 911 Carrera Coupe was delivered for the first time in France in August 1991. It’s not difficult to imagine this Porsche driving along the beautiful French coast. A classic like the 964 is made for the splendor of, for example, the Côte d’Azur. The well-known design is very traditional and modern at the same time. Moreover, the Polar Silber lacquer accentuates the timeless cachet of the 911 in a brilliant way.
With a modest mileage of 134,145, it’s no surprise that the highly attractive Carrera body has lost nothing of its shine. Of course, the popular Fuchs rims cannot be missed as well. Thanks to their black spokes, there’s a sublime contrast with the rest of the exterior. Wherever this Porsche goes, it always leaves a beautiful signature behind. Just like it did in France, and it does now in Holland.
The black leather 964 interior is very minimalistic and effective in terms of design. The door panels are perfectly flat, the dashboard is very clear and contains a series of analog clocks that are exactly in the right place. The authentic sports car DNA is noticed everywhere. This is how a real classic car should be! However, limited space for luxury is offered by electric windows and an electric sunroof in body color. The search for tunnels starts today…
Technology & Performance
It’s not unthinkable to have 250 hp in a powerful hatchback or sporty sedan nowadays. Nevertheless, it’s the way this Porsche manages his power which makes it unique. First, the 3.6 liter flat engine in the back is a real pleasure to listen to. No car that can beat the typical sound of an air-cooled 6-cylinder!
Second, the driving character is totally different. The lack of all the comfort and luxury today’s cars have, makes driving in the 964 a very pure experience. There’s no reason not to work a little bit to get at a top speed of 260 km/h! Besides, at this speed the classic still manages to leave many modern German opponents behind him... So, what are you waiting for? Looking forward to seeing you soon in the Netherlands!
